Improve Vehicle Entry & Association
Adding a vehicle is confusing, as it is not clear upfront whether the vehicle is new to the system or already exists. This leads to all details being entered, only for it to be discovered later that the vehicle must first be associated before its information can be edited—requiring everything to be re-entered.
Suggested Solution:
On-screen message clarifying the process. Suggested wording: "Some entered information may not be displayed on the confirmation screen. If the vehicle is already in the system, you must first associate it with the user before you can edit its details."
AND/OR
Modify the vehicle entry process to first require only the key identifying fields: Plate Number, State, and Plate Type. The system would then perform a search before displaying the full form:
- If the vehicle is NOT found: The full entry form appears, allowing all details to be completed before adding the vehicle.
- If the vehicle IS found: A prompt appears to first associate the vehicle. Once associated, its details can be edited without requiring re-entry of information.
